  1. There are two set of resource files here.  One is  based  on  the
  2. colors  I  have  been  working with for a while (the .tan collec-
  3. tion), and the other to  fit  in  with  a  Motif  or  a  NEXTSTEP
  4. environment  (the  .gray  collection).  The latter collection was
  5. based on colors shipped with NCSA's Motif client.

  7. Both sets move much of the color into the .Xdefaults file,  which
  8. I  link  to  .Xresources, and hence pass through xrdb, which uses
  9. cpp on them.

  11. I preload a few client-specific resources as well, such as xterm,
  12. because  I  want  to  make sure that these get loaded no m aterre
  13. what environment I am in.

  15. I have not attempted to recolor all clients.  Some of them,  such
  16. as  xgopher,  xarchie,  and llnlxftp, have fairly elaborate color
  17. schemes, and work well in most environments as-are.

  19. Simply copy the .Xdefaults file of your  choice  into  your  home
  20. directory  and link it with .Xresources .  Then copy the resource
  21. files from the preferred color collection  into  your  system  or
  22. user  resource  directory  (see  appropriate section in the book)
  23. such as $HOME/app-defaults.

  25. Finally, there is also a .twmrc file in each directory  as  well,
  26. with  calm  grays  in  the  .gray  collection, and heavily color-
  27. coded, get your attention colors in the .tan collection.
